Gerald J. Betro age 90 years died in the Brigham & Women's Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts after a brief illness on Thursday, July 25, 2013. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 5, 1923, he was the son of the late Joseph and Sarah (Tomaine) Betro. He graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1942. After graduating from high school, he proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. Upon his return, he continued his education at Northeastern Univeristy, graduating with the class of 1948. He was recalled into the Army and served his country during the Korean War. He later earned his MBA from Northeastern University in 1962. He was a lifelong resident of Walpole, Massachusetts.
He founded Betro and Company, PC in September 1958, spending his working career as a Certified Public Accountant & Certified Business Appraiser, retiring 1993.
Gerald was a member of the Massachusetts Society of CPA's and was the Past Chairman of the Ethics Committee as well as being a past Board Member. In addition, he was a member of ther American Institute of CPA's and the Institute of Business Appraisers. He was also a member of the American Legion and the Military Order of the Purple Heart.
He was a strong member of the Walpole Community, serving as the past Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Walpole Co-op Bank and as an usher at the Blessed Sacrament Church.
Gerald was an avid gardener, especially enjoying tending to his roses. He enjoyed playing golf with his family and spending time at his vaction home on Cape Cod.

Betro, Preston S. Betro, Stephanie L. Betro, Kristen E. Betro, Kevin P. Betro, Ryan J. Betro, Cameron S. Willox, Benjamin Rauscher and Meredith Rauscher. Brother of Armando J. Betro of Walpole, the late Andrew N. Betro, and the late Peter A. Betro. Friend of Susan Hussey.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Gerald's Life Celebration on Monday from 4-8PM and Tuesday from 9:30 -10AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church 10 Diamond Street Walpole on Tuesday at 10:30AM. Interment is in Saint Francis Cemetery Walpole.
