Gerald R. "Jerry" Armstrong, age 78, passed away peacefully in the Wingate Healthcare Facility in Brewster, Massachusetts on Friday, December 30, 2016. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on July 21, 1938, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Regan) Armstrong. He was raised in Norwood and loved playing Football and Baseball at Norwood High School. After his graduation in 1956, Jerry enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country. He was stationed aboard the USS Leyte and was honorably discharged in 1959.
After being released from the Navy, Jerry spent 9 years in California. He returned to his beloved hometown of Norwood in 1971, where in 1973, he met his wife to be, Francesca M. LaCamera. They were married on October 19, 1974 in Saint Catherine's Church in Somerville. Together Jerry and Fran made their home in Walpole, Massachusetts and Jerry began his career in Real Estate. He first worked at Boyd Loring office in Walpole before opening his own real estate office, Century 21 Armstrong-Sweeney, with his partner in Norwood. He eventually retired from ReMax in Norwood in 2010 and Jerry and Fran settled into their home in West Yarmouth in 2012.
Jerry always kept a busy social calendar and enjoyed traveling with a group of dear friends. He loved spending time at the beach and as an avid sports enthusiast, was always keeping track of the latest games.
Beloved husband of Francesca M. (LaCamera) "Fran" Armstrong.
Loving father of Brian J. Armstrong of Taunton and John R. Armstrong of West Yarmouth.
Cherished grandfather of Hannah Armstrong.
Brother of James Armstrong of Walpole.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Jerry's Life Celebration on Thursday from 4-8 PM and Friday from 10-10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Friday at 11 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Hope Dementia and Alzheimer's Services, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
