Georgia M. (Lang) Ravinski, age 90, passed away at the Lighhouse at Lincoln Assisted Living on Sunday, January 7, 2018. Born in her family's home in Norfolk, Massachusetts on March 8, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Philip L. and Ameila (Pescuma) Lang. She was raised in Norfolk, attending grammar school in the one room schoolhouse in City Mills. She went on to graduate from Walpole High School with the Class of 1944. While in high school, Georgia took a part time position with Kendall Mills in Walpole, delivering mail. Once she graduated she began working at Kendall's full time, becoming a secretary.
After welcoming her children, Georgia transitioned to the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family, but also maintained a part time position as a clerk with the Norfolk Pharmacy. As her children grew up, Georgia returned to The Kendall Company, working as an executive secretary, traveling to Boston daily for work. She retired in the mid-1980s, however she continued working part time at the Walpole Eye Associates.
Georgia had many contributions to her beloved Town of Norfolk. She was a founding member of Saint Jude Church, where she taught Sunday School and regularly volunteered her time. As a lifelong resident of Norfolk, she dedicated herself to the citizens of her community and volunteering with the Southwood Hospital Auxiliary.
In her retirement, Georgia enjoyed a full social calendar. She was a member of a bowling league at Ficco's Bowling Lanes in Franklin, had long standing plans on Friday afternoons with friends at the Allen's house, and loved hosting get togethers and cooking for her friends in her own home. However most of all, Georgia's life was centered around her family. She and her husband, Bob, loved traveling around the country together in their motorhome, including three trips to Alaska and spending time at their timeshare in Aruba. She enjoyed special occasions with her children at their homes in Vermont and prepared many parties in her home for the Lang and Ravinski families. Georgia adored being surrounded by those she loved and hosted many pool parties, clam and lobster bakes, and Christmas parties, where she showcased her famous Christmas cookies. After welcoming her grandchildren, Georgia always attended their athletic competitions and recitals.
Georgia's family would like to extend their deep appreciation for the tremendous love and care given to her by the amazingly compassionate staff at Lighthouse at Lincoln Memory Care community where she made her home for the past four years.
