George A. Wood

February 25, 1920 — August 27, 2007

George A. Wood, age 87 of Norwood and formerly of Walpole. Beloved husband of the late Edith M. (Brierley) whom he lost in May. He leaves behind his son Steven and his wife Ann of Norwood, his grandson William and his wife Dawn of Tacoma, Washington, his sister in law Mildred Joseph of Centerville, and many cousins, nephews, and nieces.

George and Edith lived with their son Steven and his wife for the last 3 years but lived in Walpole for 53 years previously.

George served on the Navy Cruiser "ST. LOUIS" during World War 2. After the war he worked for the telephone company for 36 years retiring in 1982.

He and Edith celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary last year. They did everything together ad enjoyed playing cards, dining out, and trips to New Hampshire and the Cape. They were very active in square dancing for many years.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service on Thursday, August 30, 2007 at 10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Visiting hours are Wednesday, August 29, 2007 from 4 to 6 PM. Interment in Rural Cemetery, Walpole. Memorial donations may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown, MA 02472.
