George W. Jiannetti Jr., age 73, passed away on Tuesday, April 15, 2025, at Accent Care Inpatient Hospice Center in Milton, Massachusetts with his devoted wife by his side. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts June 15, 1951; he was the son of George W. and Helen C. (Rempichel) Jiannetti. Raised in Norwood, George was an active young man, participating in little league, pop warner, and Boy Scouts.
George graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1970. George enrolled at Massasoit Community College to continue his education. Following a severe motorcycle accident that left him confined to a hospital for a lengthy period, George found his calling in the medical field helping other people. This experience inspired George to attend Northeastern University where he studied radiologic technology. He graduated from Northeastern with an associate’s degree in X-ray technology.
After graduation, George accepted an X-ray technician position at Norwood Hospital. In addition to working with X-Rays, George received CT and MRI certification, to increase his ability to help those in need.
While at a benefit event, George was introduced to Rita O'Loughlin, the sister of one of his department colleagues. The pair got together shortly after, visiting Rita's horses and heading down to the Cape for the day. On October 13, 1984, George married the love of his life, Rita Louise O'Loughlin, at Saint Bernadette Catholic Church in Rita's hometown of Randolph.
George and Rita began married life at an apartment in Foxborough.
In 1985 George and Rita moved into their first home together in Attleboro. George and Rita's family grew, with the addition of their son, Christopher, and later their daughter Sarah. The young family moved again in 1993 to the neighboring town of North Attleborough.
George remained a loyal employee of Norwood Hospital for three decades. He later worked for Southwood Hospital, and Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical. George also met local sport stars and a number of other famous people including presidents, as an X-ray tech for the New England Patriots.
Later in his career, George worked at Dedham MRI, until he took a well-deserved retirement in 2011. During retirement George found that he missed keeping busy and meeting new people, and worked a part-time position with Boch Toyota, shuttling vehicles and providing courtesy rides.
Throughout his life, George was known to be incredibly outgoing and friendly. He loved meeting new people and could easily strike up a conversation with anyone.
In his free time George enjoyed being with his family and friends. He was a loving father, who encouraged his children and taught them the value of hard work and responsibility. George and Rita enjoyed quiet nights out at dinner, soaking up each other’s company. Often, he joined Rita at the barn to help with the stalls, watering, and feeding of the horses, especially when he could see his favorite horse, Image.
George did a bit of traveling, visiting Bermuda, Canada, Disney World, and more. At home, George loved to gather with his friends and neighbors around the garage (King of the Hill style) sharing a beer and chatting about their lives, politics, sports, and the weather. George loved sports. He was an avid Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics fan, even being a season ticket holder with floor seats during the reign of Larry Bird. George also was a fan of the food network, sports of course, and never changed the channel if Harry Potter was on, and loved stories with happy endings.
