George R. Berry, age 70, passed away on Tuesday, December 6, 2022, at The Willows at Whitney Place in Medway, Massachusetts, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Dillon, South Carolina on January 8, 1952, he was the son of the late Colin Berry and Ethel (Wallace) Cronk. He spent his early years in Dillon before his family settled in Boonton, New Jersey, where George graduated from Boonton High School with the Class of 1970. George continued his education at Hiram Scott College and later took courses at Morris County College in New Jersey. In 1971, George started his career as a copy machine technician in Parsippany, New Jersey.
George married his beloved wife, Carolyn A. Galluzzi, on October 2, 1971, and together they made their home in Boonton. In the mid-1970s, they moved across the country to make their home just outside of Seattle, Washington. In 1977, he and Carolyn returned east, making their home in Walpole, Massachusetts. In 1980, George did some free-lance consulting work for various companies, including Arbella Insurance who offered him a full-time position with the company in 1987, working as a mainframe programmer. He furthered his education at Northeastern and Boston University, getting certificates from each in 1990. George continued his career with Arbella for twenty-eight years, before his retirement in 2015.
Throughout his life, George enjoyed staying active. He was an avid runner and ran many races. He enjoyed vacationing in Cape Cod with his family where they would spend time swimming and riding bikes together. He coached Little League baseball, basketball and soccer. Back at home, George could be found woodworking, building cabinets and furniture or out in the driveway working on his car, usually with the tunes cranked. Most of all, George was devoted to his family. He cherished his grandchildren, always playing with them at their level, whether running around the yard or letting them climb all over him.
