Gene “Gino” William Peyton of Shelburne, VT sadly passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at UVM Medical Center in Burlington, VT. He was 66 years old. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on May 30, 1955, he was the son of the late Eugene Francis and Eleanore (Swanton) Peyton. Gene spent his childhood years in Walpole, MA and attended Walpole Public Schools. He loved to play tennis and was the Captain of the Walpole High School Tennis Team his senior year. Gene also loved ice skating at Turner’s Pond, playing his guitar, and going to Marshfield and Horseneck Beach in the summer. After high school Gene worked on Cape Cod, so he could be close to the ocean and beaches.

After relocating to Burlington, VT, Gene worked in the Auto Industry and later became a cook at the University of Vermont. He met his longtime companion Sue Julien, who was a special light in his life for many years. He loved the Burlington area for its wonderful summer and fall festivals and its natural beauty. Gino was an avid fisherman and loved being on Lake Champlain in the fishing seasons. Ice fishing was a beloved challenge to him and he went as often as he could. Watching sports was a passion of Gino’s. He especially loved the New England Patriots. As a dedicated fan, he would dress up in Pat’s gear before each game. He also loved watching the Boston Celtics.

Gino retired from the Sodexo Food Service at UVM, where he was recognized for his exemplary service as a cook and an organized and supportive coworker. He was very friendly and kind, and Gino had positive interactions with everyone he encountered. He truly loved people.

Gene was the beloved son of the late Eleanore and Eugene Peyton. He is survived by his brother Garrett Peyton and his wife Julie of Peterborough, NH, his sister Ellen Louise McDavitt and her husband Francis of Walpole, MA, and his sister Lauren Marie Zysk and her late husband Darren of Foxborough, MA.
