G Franklin Fish age 80 years died surrounded by his loving family on Satuday, November 5, 2011. Born in Assonet, Massachusetts on June 23, 1931, he was the son of the late Leslie W. and Ruth (Harris) Fish. He graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1949 and went on to graduate from Northeastern University with the class of 1953.
After graduating from Northeastern, Frank went to work for the Truesdale Company of Boston, Ma. In the early 1970's he started his own business out of his home in South Walpole; Fish Chemical and Equipment Company, before building a plant in Walpole. Frank sold the company in 1990 but continued working there until his retirement in 2000. Frank was active in several trade associations and was a past president of both the Chemical Club of New England and the New England Coatings Association. Frank was a long time member of the South Walpole Methodist Church.
Frank and Joan raised their family in South Walpole before moving to Padanaram in 1989. They spent 11 years there enjoying sailing, golfing, dinner at the yacht club and spending time with their friends. They moved to Foxboro in 2000 to be closer to their children and grandchildren. Upon the death of his beloved wife Joan in April of this year Frank moved in with his daughter Sally and her family in South Walpole.
After having contracted type 1 diabetes at the age of 19, with much help from Joan, he managed it for over 60 years. Frank had a long time association with the Joslin Diabetes Center as a patient and eventually became an overseer at the Center.
Beloved husband of the late Joan Marie Fish. Loving Father of Leslie Fish of Stoneham, Carolyn and her husband Donald Timmins of Foxboro, and Sally and her husband John of South Walpole. Cherished grandfather of Lee Fish, Christopher and Mithchell Timmins and Benjamin, Michelle and Jeffrey Lennon. Brother of Warren E. Fish of Lancaster, the late Herman W. Fish, Harris Fish and Wilma Fish Britton. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Memorial Service that will be celebrated at the United Methodist Church of South Walpole on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at 2:00PM. Visiting hours and interment are private. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to: G. Franklin and Joan M.
