Frederick F. Grosso age 93 years died in his Norwood, Massachusetts home on Friday, March 22, 2013. Born in Norwood on November 3, 1919, he was the son of the late Frank and Mary (Scotti) Grosso. He graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1937. Mr. Grosso proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a life long resident of Norwood.
He worked for the Foxboro Company in Foxboro, Massachusetts for 35 years in the technical support department. He retired in 1981.
Mr. Grosso was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 252 in Norwood, the Norwood Legion, the Norwood Retired Mens Club, and was an usher at the 11:30 Sunday Mass at St. Catherines of Siena Church.
He was an accomplished bowler, holding records in both the Knights of Columbus Bowling League and the Thursday Morning Norwood Senior Mix League. He also played softball with the Foxboro Company League.
Mr. Grosso was an avid gardener and enjoyed dancing with his wife and friends.
Beloved husband of the late Virginia C. (Bianchini) Grosso. Loving father of Fred F. "Butch" Grosso, Jr. of Mansfield, Susan Sopel of Torrence, CA, Mary Ellen Cunningham and Thomas Grosso both of Mansfield. Cherished grandfather of 7 and great grandfather of 2. Brother of the late Louis, Harry, Anthony "Tony" Grosso, Columbia "Peggy" LaCivita and Angie DeValga.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral that will be held at Saint Catherine of Siena Church Washington Street (Route 1A) at Nahatan Street in Norwood on Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 4-8 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery in Norwood. Memorial donations may be made to: Knights of Columbus Council 252, 572 Nichols Street, Norwood, Massachusetts 02062.
