Frank Tarara age 89 years died in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Monday, March 28, 2011. Born in Riesi, Sicily, Italy on February 23, 1922; he was the son of the late Joseph and Crocifisa (Tardanico) Tarara. Mr. Tarara proudly served in the Italian Army during World War II. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 17 years moving there from Jamacia Plain.
He got his first job in the sulfur mine in Sicily before going to work at a steel mill in Belgium. When he arrived in the United States he began in construction, and later went to work in clothing manufacturing. His last job was making recreational parachutes.
Mr. Tarara enjoyed dancing, watching soccer, and gardening especially growing tomatoes.
He was a member of the Society of Saint Joseph, the Patron Saint of Riesi, in the North End of Boston. He had previously served as both the treasurer and the president.
Beloved husband of Filomena (Tardanico) Tarara. Loving father of Joseph Tarara of Framingham, Guy Tarara of Randolph, Frank Tarara of Natick, Fay Fitzgerald of Walpole, and Gina Mazzotta of Sharon. Cherished grandfather of 15 and great grandfather of 13. Brother of Guy Tarara of West Roxbury, Vincent Tarara of Roslindale, the late Angela D'Antona and Josephine Valenzola. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Blessed Sacrament Church East Street (Route 27) at Diamond Street Walpole on Friday, April 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Thursday, March 31, 2011 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is in Saint Michael's Cemetery in Roslindale.
