Frank E. Erker, age 99, died in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Born in Walpole, Massachusetts on September 6, 1914, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josefa (Koellner) Erker. As a lifelong resident of Walpole, he graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1932. He later graduated from Hemp Hill Diesel School with the class of 1935. Frank proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was stationed in Florida as part of the Coast Artillary and served for 6 months in the Phillipines. Frank was discharged as a Second Lieutenant in 1946.
As an employee of Rodman Ford in Foxboro and Fred C. Brown Ford in Walpole, Frank was well known to many Ford owners in the Walpole area. He retired from Rodman in 1982 with over 30 years of automotive experience.
Frank loved helping relatives, friends, and neighbors, especially with fixing all thing mechanical. He also enjoyed fishing, gardening, and exploring the United States and Canada by car.
Beloved husband of the late Ann (McCarthy) Erker. Loving father of David J. and his wife Vicky Erker of Orono, Maine, the late Edward F. Erker and the late Catherine A. Maloney. Cherished grandfather of Ben Erker. Brother of the late Joseph Erker, Jr., Mary Anderson, Emma Erker, Hedwig "Vicki" Erker, Sophie Coyne, Walter Erker, Philip Erker, Edward Erker, and Elinor Erker.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Frank's Life Celebration on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 4-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow in Highland Cemetery in Norwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Walpole Area VNA, P.O. Box 252, Walpole, Massachusetts 02081.
