Frances Reather (Richardson) Hollman, age 92, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Friday, January 12, 2018. Born in Chattaloochee, Florida on August 16, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Martha (Goodson) Richardson. She was raised in Florida and was a proud member of the Friendship AME Church.
Frances graduated from high school in 1943 and a year later married her husband, LeRoy Hollman, Jr. LeRoy was called to serve his country during World War II and departed for Germany in 1944, and while he was away, Frances welcomed her first child, Juanita, in 1945. In 1947, LeRoy rejoined his family and they settled in Boston, Massachusetts together, where Frances joined the membership of the Charles Street AME Church. Frances took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her growing family. She welcomed her second child, Donald in 1954, third child, Karen, in 1959, and fourth child, Mark, in 1966.
After her children were grown, Frances returned to school, taking classes at Wheelock College. She took a position with the Grove Hall Child Development Center in 1979, working in the infant room until 1983.
Frances was delighted when her family grew again, welcoming her grandchildren with open arms, and loved being able to care for them in the afternoons. In 2005, Frances and LeRoy settled in Walpole, Massachusetts to be closer to their family. Sadly in 2012, Frances lost her husband, LeRoy, however she persevered, celebrating her 90th Birthday with family and friends in 2015. Her passing serves as a bookend to her family history, as she was the last of her ten siblings to pass, the first being her twin brother, Frank.
