Frances C. D'Entremont

June 23, 1935 — March 5, 2017

Frances C. (Martowska) D'Entremont, age 81, passed away in her Walpole, Massachusetts home on Sunday, March 5, 2017. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on June 23, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie (Gotoviska) Matusewicz. She was raised in Norwood, attending the Balch Elementary School and Norwood Junior High School, before graduating from Norwood High School with the Class of 1953. At Norwood High School she earned the Lane Medal. After graduation, she continued her education at the Mount Auburn Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge, Massachusetts, earning her R.N. Degree in 1956. Frances, along with a friend from nursing school, departed for Austin, Texas after graduation to begin their careers. After about a year in Texas, she returned to Massachusetts, taking a nursing position at the Norwood Hospital, where she was promoted to Head Floor Nurse.

While working at Norwood Hospital, she cared for a man named Richard D'Entremont, who later asked her out for dinner. Frances and Richard were married a few years later, on June 9, 1962 in Saint Peter's Church in South Norwood. The young couple initially made their home together in Franklin, Massachusetts, where they welcomed their first two children, Susan and Peter. In 1971, the young family settled into their home in Walpole and welcomed their third child, James.

Frances left Norwood Hospital after welcoming her children, becoming a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. After her children were enrolled in school, Frances began working part time at a children's day care center in East Walpole and later began offering private in home nursing care.

After her daughter, Susan, became involved in the Girl Scouts, Frances took on an active role in the scouting community. She first served as a troop leader and later served as the Walpole Girl Scout Cookie Chair and on the Girl Scout House Committee. All of her hard work was recognized by the Girl Scouts of America, when they presented her with their Thanks Badge.

Throughout her life, Frances was an avid Boston Red Sox fan, and could be found cheering them on whenever she could. She enjoyed a full social calendar, alongside Richard, as members of the Do Si Doer's Square Dancing Group. She also enjoyed her quiet time, keeping busy reading and solving Sudoku puzzles. Most of all, she loved spending time with friends and family. She often invited people into her home and especially enjoyed hosting international students and visitors. She never met a stranger.
