Florence Anne (Scappaticci) Jerome, age 84, passed away on Tuesday, May 5th, of Covid-19. Born in Franklin, Massachusetts on May 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Geatano and Augusta (Bostick) Scappaticci. She was raised in Franklin, MA and graduated valedictorian from Franklin High School, class of 1953. She graduated Cum Laude from Boston University’s School of Fine and Applied Arts in 1957, and was a sister of the Eta Chapter of Theta Phi Alpha.
Florence married Thomas R. Jerome, of Cohasset, on July 28, 1956. They raised their three children in Norwood, MA. where Florence taught children how to sing from their hearts to the accompaniment of her piano playing for forty years in the Norwood Elementary School Music department. She was always in her element teaching children, including her own. Her pride and joy was presenting the sixth grade musicals each year and sing-a-longs by the piano at family gatherings.
Florence leaves behind her husband, Tom of 63 years, her children and their spouses, Karen A. Jerome Skillins and her husband, Douglas, of Brookline, Donna M. Jerome and her husband, Ian Greitzer, of Medfield, and David T. Jerome and his wife, Sylvia, of Rutland, Vermont, her loving sister Gloria Yankee of Medway and she was predeceased by sisters Charlotte Ledoux and Joan Stephens. Most importantly she leaves behind her pride and joy, her grandchildren, Elise and Michael Greitzer.
Due to the pandemic crisis, Florence’s family will have a private service, at Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452, www.alz.org
