Evelyn L. (Domenichelli) Selmi, age 93, passed away on Friday, August 23, 2019. Born in Colver, Pennsylvania on August 31, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Costante and Antonia (Leri) Domenichelli. She was raised in Colver and graduated from Ebensburg Cambria Regional High School with the Class of 1943. A few years after graduation, Evelyn settled in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where she worked as a secretary for various companies, including Locke and Sikorsky.
While on vacation in Italy in 1956, Evelyn met her soon to be husband, Giuliano G. Selmi, by chance while he was working at a train station for the Treasury Police. She and Giuliano wrote back and forth for three years before Evelyn returned to Italy, where they were married in Florence on August 8, 1959. The couple returned to the United States in 1960, making their home together in Bridgeport. They later moved to nearby Fairfield, before finally settling in Milford in 1967 to raise their family. In 1979, Evelyn took an administrative assistant position with the Internal Revenue Service in its Bridgeport office. She continued working there for the next 27 years before retiring in 2006 at the age of 81.
Evelyn was an avid reader. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She looked forward to having her family over to her home and prepared wonderful meals for them to enjoy. No meal was ever complete without passing around one of her favorite baked goods like Devil Dogs or Butterhorns. She volunteered at the Church Guild and was proud president of the PTA. In 2013, Evelyn and Giuliano left Milford, moving to Norfolk, Massachusetts, allowing them to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
