Evangeline Marie (McPherson) McNeil, age 84, passed away peacefully in her Groveland, Massachusetts home on Sunday, August 11, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, Canada on September 10, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Neil and Emma (McNeil) McPherson. She was raised and educated in Cape Breton, graduating from Saint Joseph’s School of Nursing with the Class of 1954.
After completing her education, Evangeline immigrated to the United States of America with her soon to be husband, John F. McNeil. They were married on February 4, 1956 and made their home together in the Hyde Park area of Boston, Massachusetts. Evangeline took a nursing position at the Boston Hospital for Women, which later merged into Brigham and Women’s Hospital. While living in Hyde Park, Evangeline welcomed her two children, Suzanne and Ralph. As her family outgrew their Hyde Park home, Evangeline and John moved to Walpole, Massachusetts in the early 1970s. In addition to raising her family, Evangeline maintained her position with Brigham and Women’s Hospital, eventually earning the position of Nurse Manager before her retirement.
During her younger years, Evangeline enjoyed skiing, and in her later years, she enjoyed some quiet time, knitting and crocheting. While she enjoyed her quiet time, she looked forward to casino trips to try her luck at winning big.
