Eugenie H. Newton

Eugenie H. (Eckert) Newton age 90 years died in the North Bay Manor in Smithfield, Rhode Island on Thursday, October 29, 2009. Born in Brooklyn, New York on April 25, 1919; she was the daughter of the late Albert and Helen (Adrian) Eckert. She graduated from Walpole High School with the class of 1937. Mrs. Newton was a lifelong resident of East Walpole, Massachusetts.

She worked as an adminitrative assistant at the Bird and Son Company in East Walpole, Massachusetts from 1937 to 1942 and again from 1964 to 1981.

Mrs. Newton was an active member of the Union Congregational Church in East Walpole serving as a Deacon as well as being on the Flower Committee.

She was a member of the Sharon Garden Club and the Hockamock YMCA in North Attleboro.

Mrs. Newton enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, swimming, knitting mittens, as well as outdoor sports.

Beloved wife of Richard A. Newton. Loving mother of Gail Stonefield of Cary, NC and Marcia Flanagan of Warwick, RI. Cherished grandmother of Scott Stonefield, Mark Stonefield, Kimberly Winship, Jennifer Howey, and Deborah Flanagan and great grandmother of 9. Sister of the late Dorothy Miller.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the memorial service that will be held in the Union Congregational Church 55 Rhodes Avenue East Walpole on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at 2PM. Visiting hours are Friday, November 6, 2009 from 4-7PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment is private.
