Erna Arlene (Brennan) Nethercote, age 95, passed away on Friday June 24th, 2016 surrounded by her loving children. Born in Newton Massachusetts on September 12th, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence G. and Harriett W. (Bergesen) Brennan. She spent her childhood in Newton Massachusetts, helping her father raise herself and her younger brother, after losing her mother at a young age, and graduated from Newton High School in 1938. She met her loving husband of 73 years, Bill, at a Saint Charles High School dance. Upon her husband Bill's returning from serving in France in WWII to Erna and their two young sons, they made their home in Newton. As their family continued to grow, they moved to Auburn, and finally settled in Walpole, Massachusetts in 1958.
Erna cared lovingly for her family at home for many years, sharing with them her love for music with her frequent singing around the house, and playing the piano.
As her children grew older, she began to work outside the home, eventually becoming a real estate broker. She was active in the Blessed Sacrament church for many years, where she renewed her vows to her husband Bill, on the occasion of their fiftieth wedding anniversary.
In her later years, she enjoyed helping to care for her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and was a loving and important part of their lives.
