Ellen F. (Coppinger) Shea, age 83, passed away peacefully in the Bethany Health Care Center in Framingham, Massachusetts on Wednesday, August 22, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 14, 1934, she was the daughter of the late John and Bridget (Spillane) Coppinger. She was raised in the Jamaica Plain area of Boston and graduated from Saint Aidan's High School in Brookline with the Class of 1952. After graduation, Ellen took an operator's position with the New England Telephone Company.
Ellen married her beloved husband, Paul F. Shea, on September 3, 1956 in Boston. The young couple made their home together in Jamaica Plain, before settling in Norwood, first on Cranmore Road 1958 and later on Worcester Drive in 1965. Ellen left her position at the phone company, taking on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family. As her children grew up, Ellen returned to the working world, taking a position with the Norwood Veterinary Office, working as a receptionist in 1976. She later took a receptionist position with Roslindale Pediatrics, where she worked for more than 20 years before her retirement in 1989. After her retirement, she and Paul settled into their dream house in Yarmouthport on Cape Cod, where Ellen took a hands-on approach with all of the decorating.
In her spare time, Ellen was an avid quilter, and loved giving her beautiful works to her family. She also enjoyed tending to her flower gardens and trying new recipes that she learned from the latest cooking shows. Ellen loved taking trips with her husband, Paul, and the two traveled the world together. Back at home, Ellen loved hosting her family at her Cape house, and looked forward to Christmas Eve, when all of her children, grandchildren, and family dogs would spend the night in her home.
