Elizabeth F. (Finley) Wickham, age 96 years, died in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole, Massachusetts on Saturday, January 8, 2011. Born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 7, 1914, Betty was the daughter of the late William and Grace (Morgan) Finely. She graduated from Shaw High School in Cleveland, Ohio with the class of 1932, and earned her B.A. in mathematics from the Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland in 1937. She has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts since 1994. Previously she lived in Greenwich, Connecticut and Cleveland.
Her life's work was primarily as a loving wife to the late Ben B. Wickham and caring mother of sons Ben, of Alexandria, VA and Bill of Walpole, MA. Betty was also a proud volunteer in the local libraries wherever she lived as well as in various church organizations. She loved playing bridge and poker, and was good at both. She was an active member of the United Church in Walpole until her health prevented her from attending regularly.
In addition to her two sons and daughters-in-law, Julie and Roxanne, Betty is survived by her grandchildren Max, Sam, Ashley and Sarah and her great-grandchild Oscar.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in the name of Elizabeth F. Wickham may be made to the Harrington House Activities Fund, 160 Main Street, Walpole, MA 02081. Interment will take place in Lakeview Cemetery in Cleveland. A memorial service in her honor will take place later this winter. Arrangements by James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home Walpole.
