Elizabeth (Sweeney) Lee of East Walpole, passed away on February 23, 2016 surrounded by her family. She was 78. Liz was born in West Roxbury to John and Evangeline (Conza) Sweeney. She graduated from Boston State College and became a kindergarten teacher at the Cleveland School in Norwood. She was predeceased by her loving husband Robert Lee in 1993. Liz and Bob raised their family in Walpole, where she was involved with many church, town, and school activities. She served on the Walpole School Committee, was a founding member of the Walpole Scholarship Committee, and was a long-time town meeting member.
She is survived by her son John and his wife Jennifer of Sharon, son Rich and his wife Joanmarie of Newton, son Ed of North Attleboro, daughter Nancy Nelson and her husband Karl of Shrewsbury, and daughter Patty Devaney and her husband Rob of Newton. She was the proud and loving grandmother of Julia, Eliza, Lorelei, Robert, Jake, Josephine, Justin, Michael, Simon, Hannah, Nicholas, Benjamin, Patrick, Brian, Elizabeth, Annika, Meghan, Luke, and Norah. She also leaves her brother John Sweeney, Jr. and wife Diane of Florida, sister Claire Stevenson and husband Ted of Wilbraham, sister-in-law Virginia Langley of Milton, brother-in-law Paul Coughlin of Hamilton and many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Elizabeth's Life Celebration on Friday, February 26, 2016 from 3-7 PM and Saturday, February 27, 2016 from 9-9:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Friends of Bird Park, P.O. Box 94, East Walpole, MA 02032.
