Elizabeth J. "Beth" Delaney, age 77, passed away in Saint Patrick's Manor in Framingham, Massachusetts on Monday, January 29, 2018. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts in 1940, she was the daughter of the late Daniel H. and Catherine E. (Shea) Delaney. As a lifelong resident of Walpole, she graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1958. Beth continued her education at Bridgewater State College, earning her Bachelor's Degree in 1962. Throughout her years in both high school and college, Beth took an active role at the Camp held at the Dutton Estate. She later received her Master's Degree in Special Education from Bridgewater State College.
Upon graduation, Beth took a teaching position on the South Shore, however, she was able to secure a position in her hometown of Walpole in the public schools, serving as a special education teacher. During her teaching career, Beth was a member of the Massachusetts Teachers Association and the Special Education Teachers Association. Beth retired in 1997, after 34 years of dedicated service to the students of Walpole.
Throughout her lifetime, Beth loved traveling. She took memorable trips to Africa, Europe, and Ireland. She also enjoyed quiet time at home, knitting and crafting wonderful decorations, and gifts.
Devoted daughter of the late Daniel H. and Catherine E. (Shea) Delaney.
Loving sister of Patricia H. Murphy and her husband John D. of Wellesley, Ann T. Howard and her husband Joseph of Farmington, Connecticut, Sheila M. Flynn and her late husband Robert of Framingham, Catherine D. LeBrun and her husband Thomas of Wellesley, Jeremiah T. Delaney, II of the Cayman Islands, Daniel H. Delaney, Jr. and his wife Margaret of Lynchburg, Virginia, and John L. Delaney of St. Petersburg, Florida.
Also survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 9:00 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church on Monday, February 5, 2018 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
