Elizabeth “Betty” Davis Kokos, age 67, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 3, 2019 at Wingate Healthcare in Needham, Massachusetts. Born in Norwood on July 14, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Robert L. Davis and Matilda (Gavin) Davis. Betty was raised in East Walpole and was a member of the Boston Skating Club, through which she enjoyed figure skating at a competitive level. Betty attended the Newton Country Day School of Sacred Heart in Newton, excelling in field hockey and lacrosse before graduating with the Class of 1969. Betty went on to continue her education, achieving her bachelor’s degree from Connecticut College in 1973 at and her Master’s in Business Administration from Simmons College in 1981.
Betty was a truly brilliant individual, working in Operations at Honeywell in Newton, and her knowledge and skills soon earned her the position of Vice President of Aware Incorporated in Bedford. Betty was presented with many awards for her achievements in the technological industry.
When she wasn’t hard at work, Betty enjoyed cheering on her favorite New England sports teams, the Patriots, Red Sox, and the Bruins.
One of Betty’s greatest joys was spending her summers at her family home in Harpswell, Maine. Ten generations of the Davis family have lived in Harpswell, back to when the family established a shipbuilding business there hundreds of years ago. Betty was an integral part of keeping this family tradition alive, and always treasured time spent with her family there.
Loving mother of Kerry Davis Kokos of Walpole, and the late Melissa Skolfield Kokos.
Sister of Barbara Hanson and her husband Arnie of Nashua, NH, Robert Davis and his wife Sarah of Madison, CT, Frank Viano and his wife Susan of Boston, and the late Carol Ann Davis.
Cherished aunt of five nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are kindly invited to attend Betty’s Celebration of Life on Friday, June 7, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00PM and on Saturday, June 8, 2019 from 9:00 to 9:30AM at the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole, MA. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2019 at 10:00AM at Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, MA. Interment will follow at Saint Francis Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Melissa Skolfield Kokos Endowment, c/o Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, 330 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215.
