Elizabeth F. "Betty" Colbert (Troiano), age 89, passed away on February 12th with her loving grandchildren by her side.
Betty, Born June 19, 1935, daughter of the late Sebastian and Angelina M. (Franciosi) Troiano. A legacy of a resident, dedicated to the town of Walpole for her entire life. As a single mother to her four children, Steven, Thomas, William and James Colbert, she owned and kept pristine, her three-family home on Union St. for 54 years. Bettys front porch welcomed neighbors, friends and family having conversation and making memories of a lifetime. Bird Park was her heaven from younger years with her friends to swim in the pools, walking, reading and soaking up sunshine until her years pushing strollers as their Great Grandmother.
Betty was lifetime member of the Italian American club of Walpole where she was often awarded and recognized for her skilled game of Bocce and her Italian cookies. She was known as miss “Betty Boop” for her “sassy sense of humor” ageless personality amongst other things…
Betty was a very dedicated Catholic member to St. Mary’s Church of E. Walpole, where she religiously attended Mass. She held her religion and God very close to heart always. Betty’s undeniable faith she often said was what kept her going through her lifetime challenges she overcame.
Betty waitressed at many restaurants such as the Golden Steer, Jimmys Fisherman, 204 Washington, and the 99 Restaurant where she retired at the age of 72. After all the years in waitressing she would make friends of a lifetime and was recognized everywhere from CVS to the Post Office, where she would stop to reminisce or for conversations for sometimes over an hour! She was guaranteed to leave you laughing or with a smile.
More than anything, Betty was devoted to her family, especially to her grandchildren she became a mother figure of after the loss of daughter in-law, Sue Burt in 1996 leaving 6 young children. To her grandchildren she was known as “Nona” and filled them with love and lessons of the word RESPECT as the biggest lesson of all to grandchildren, Steven, Jennifer, Missy, Jesse, Elizabeth, and James.
Betty, Nona will be carried in memory and close to hearts for generations to come. For all the laughter, love and angelic personality we were blessed to share with her, she will be missed.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Betty's Life Celebration on Thursday, February 20th, 2025, from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
