Elizabeth D. Brock

September 15, 1939 — December 19, 2022

Elizabeth D. “Betty” (Brannan) Brock, age 83, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 19, 2022, at her home in Norfolk, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family.  Born in Dunfermline, Scotland on September 15, 1939, she was the daughter of the late James and Elizabeth Drylie (Boyd) Brannan.  She was raised in Cowdenbeath, Scotland, where she graduated from the Mosside School.  Following her graduation, Elizabeth took a position with the local cooperative store in Cowdenbeath, working in the office.

Elizabeth married her beloved husband, James K. Brock, on August 26, 1961, in Cowdenbeath.  After making their home in Scotland for two years, Elizabeth and James immigrated to the United States of America, landing in Boston, Massachusetts and making their home in the Mattapan neighborhood.  Upon their arrival, Elizabeth took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her young family.  In 1967, Elizabeth and James left the city, settling in the small suburban town of Walpole, Massachusetts, where they raised their three daughters, Karen, Kimberly, and Laura.  Once Laura was enrolled in school, Elizabeth returned to her working career, taking a position with Mar-El Jewelry Distributors of Walpole in 1972.  Nine years later, her career brought her to Norfolk & Dedham Mutual Fire Insurance Company in Dedham, where she served for 20 years as an insurance rater.  Following her retirement in 2001, she enjoyed watching and spending time with her grandson, Andrew.

Throughout her life, Elizabeth loved hosting Sunday family dinners.  She spent hours in her kitchen preparing a roast beef and Yorkshire pudding for her family to enjoy together.  After settling in the US, Elizabeth quickly fell for all the Boston sports teams, watching a game on TV whenever she could.  As the time for baseball spring training rolled around, Elizabeth took off for Florida, watching all the Red Sox stars prepare for the upcoming season.  Back at home, she enjoyed some quiet time, watching her favorite British shows on PBS.  As the day came to an end, Elizabeth could be found with one of her favorite books, spanning subjects from history and World War I through romance novels.
