Eleanor Louise Wilson

Eleanor L. (Nevosh) Wilson passed away peacefully at Maples Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Wrentham, Massachusetts,  on July 31, 2019.  “Ellie” was the wife of the late George A. Wilson, Jr.

Ellie was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and raised in Quincy.   She graduated from North Quincy High School in 1943.  She attended Simmons College in Boston for two years.  In 1947 she married George Wilson of Quincy,  and they were married for 62 years.  They lived in Walpole for 34 years before retiring to Marstons Mills, Cape Cod, in 1986.  After her beloved husband passed away in 1999, Ellie moved to Quincy, where it was her life-long dream to move back to the neighborhood she grew up in.  Eleven years later she moved to Magnolia Heights in Franklin, Massachusetts. She was a member of St. Peter’s Episcopal Church in Osterville, Massachusetts.

Eleanor and George were avid, licensed radio operators for over 50 years and held the call letters W1QON and W1OLP.  Before becoming a piano teacher in Walpole, Eleanor wrote a column for QST Magazine, and attended several conferences for the American Radio Relay League.  Eleanor loved to travel.  She and George went to Nova Scotia 48 times visiting relatives, took extended vacations in Switzerland, and traveled to England, Paris and other various places within and outside the United States. When Eleanor moved to Cape Cod, she continued to teach and play the piano.  She will be remembered fondly by her piano students, many of whom became lasting friends.  Besides her family, music was her biggest love and passion.

Mrs. Wilson is survived by her son George Arthur Wilson III and his wife Donna Wilson of Hanover, Massachusetts, daughter June L. Burke and her husband William of Plainville, Massachusetts, sister Lorraine T. Roach (predeceased), brother Paul Nevosh of Paso Robles, California, sister-in-law Virginia Smith of Duxbury, Massachusetts, three grandchildren, Amy, Meredith and Andrew, and four great-grandchildren, Chaya, Ari, Ella and Alice.  She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews and many dear friends. 

A private funeral service will be held at James H. Delaney & Sons Funeral Home in Walpole, Massachusetts.  Interment will be in the Daffodil Garden at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church.
