Eleanor Ann (Maria) Graves, age 90, passed away on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at her home in Walpole, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on July 11, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Jenny (Toto) Maria. She was raised in Sharon, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Sharon High School with the Class of 1950.
Eleanor married her beloved husband, Richard A. Graves, on June 21, 1953, in Our Lady of Sorrows Church in her hometown of Sharon. The young couple initially made their home in Sharon, where they began their family. In 1959, Eleanor began her career with Sharon Credit Union, becoming the first employee, managing all aspects of the bank. Eleanor's family eventually outgrew their home in Sharon, and in 1971, she and Richard settled in East Walpole, Massachusetts, raising their family on Squire Court. As Sharon Credit Union expanded, Eleanor remained in the administrative offices, working her way up to general manager, overseeing all the branch locations until her retirement in 2000.
In her retirement, Eleanor enjoyed socializing with her friends "The Water Babies" taking water aerobics classes at the Vanderbilt Club in Norwood. While the classes were enjoyable, Eleanor really looked forward to the lunch gathering that followed, spending time talking and laughing with her friends.
Throughout her life, Eleanor was truly devoted to her family, spending countless hours with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved hosting her family in her home, preparing a wonderful meal for everyone to enjoy together. Dinner was usually followed by some games, when Eleanor's competitive side came out, doing her very best to win against anyone at the table. More recently, she took her competitive streak to an electronic platform, playing Words with Friends, challenging people near and far.
