Eleanor Claire Cercone, age 90, passed away peacefully in the Plymouth Harborside Healthcare Facility on Tuesday, December 26, 2017. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on March 3, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Nicola and Annagrazio (Colantonio) Cercone. She was raised in Walpole, Massachusetts and graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1945.
After graduation, Eleanor took a position with Kendall Mills in Walpole. After the closing of Kendall's, she settled in Boston where she was employed in the food services department of Boston College. It was there that she earned the nickname of "Lovey" that was given to her by the many students she was so fond of. She later began working at the Longwood Cricket Club in Chestnut Hill, taking on many different roles, until her retirement in 2014. In addition, she was a part time employee of the Church of Nazarene.
Throughout her life, Eleanor enjoyed spending time at the beach. However, she truly loved being surround by her family, treasuring every moment spent with them, especially the younger generations.
Loving sister of the late Louis Cercone, Mary Canal, Araminta Kivi, and Elizabeth Cercone.
She is survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A private funeral mass was celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole. Interment will take place in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Boston Children's Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02115.
