Mrs. Eileen "Nana" Neilsen , born in Norwood, Massachusetts on November 14, 1929, to her parents Charles and Mary MacDonald, named Ida Eileen (MacDonald) Neilsen. She was honored with her angel wings unexpectedly on January 10th, 2008. Her final days spent surrounded by family and friends, who will find it impossible to fill the void her passing has created.
Nana's life would seem fulfilled to those who knew her best. Always a smile, never a frown. Nana was the foundation of her family and carried her positive outlook on life with her where ever she went. She possessed strength, perseverance and the ability to overcome lifelong emotional challenges that would have ldft most people overwhelming distaste for life. With her genuine spirit and charisma, Nana embraced and made a lifetime friend with every person she met. Nana had an uncanny ability to make good memories from even the worst situations. She enyoyed selfless acts, caring for others, storytelling , sewing, traveling and being in the presence of her family and friends.
With Nana's passing we remind others that her life is one to be celebrated, although we will miss her everyday especially her unconditional love and unbreakable spirit, she will always remain forever in our hearts. A life long resident of Walpole , she was the co owner and operator of Wayside Flowers in North Walpole for many years and retired in 1985.
She leaves behind an infinite population of people in which she has loved, taught and supported throughout her life. Nana was the wife of the late Ralph Francis Neilson. Loving mother of Jackie Shaughnessy of West Wareham, Bonnie Viera of Newport Richey, Florida, Charles Saunders of Denton, Texas, Robert Hemmer of Holliston and the late Chuck Neilson. Sister of Arthur MacDonald of South Carolina. Cherished grandmother, great grandmother and great great grandmother. Also survived by 4 nieces and 1 nephew.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Sunday, January 13th, 2008 from 2pm to 5pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole . Followed by a funeral service at 5pm in the funeral home. Interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to: Good Samaritan Hospice 3 Edgewater Drive Norwood, Massachusetts 02062.
