Eileen (Mannion) DeMichele, age 81, passed away peacefully in the Blackstone Nursing Home on Thursday, March 2, 2017. Born in Galway, Ireland on February 16, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Patrick and Nora (Cunningham) Mannion. She was raised in Galway and after receiving her primary education, she helped her parents work on the family farm. In 1955, after receiving correspondence from her Aunt in Boston, Eileen, along with her sister, Mary, immigrated to the United States and made their home with their Aunt in Brighton. Eileen earned her high school diploma by attending night school at Brighton High School, while working at the Raytheon Company in Newton during the day.
Eileen met her husband to be, Rudolph DeMichele, Jr., while working at Raytheon. They were married on May 21, 1966 and together they made their home in Walpole, Massachusetts. As they welcomed their children, she and Rudolph moved to Clarkson Drive and Eileen left the working world, becoming a homemaker, to raise and care for Alan and Linda. In 1972, the young family moved to Monroe, Connecticut, after Rudolph received a job transfer, however they returned to Walpole in 1976, settling into their home on Foliage Drive. After her children were enrolled in school, Eileen began working various part time jobs to keep herself occupied and to get out of the house.
Eileen worked diligently on her flower gardens around her home on Foliage Drive, always taking great pride in their appearance. She enjoyed spending time with her cats and loved walking around Bird Park in East Walpole. Every week Eileen looked forward to her long-standing dinner date with Rudolph, which usually took place at Guido's in Walpole. Most of all, Eileen loved spending time with her family. She treasured the time she spent with her own grandchildren and also enjoyed spending time with her sister's grandchildren.
