Edwinta "Winkey" Calamese

Edwinta "Winkey" Calamese, age 71, died in the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, March 27, 2015. Born in Jackson, Tennessee on November 30, 1943, she was the daughter of Eddie B. Calamese and the late Warnella (Johnson) Calamese and was raised in Roxbury, Massachusetts. While growing up in Roxbury, Edwinta enjoyed taking ballet lessons at the Elma Lewis School of Dance, horseback riding, and swimming. She graduated from Burke High School with the class of 1959.

She took as position as an administrative assistant with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the Department of Public Welfare. She retired in 2004 with over 20 years of service.

After her retirement, Edwinta enjoyed spending time at Franklin Park taking in the natural beauty and attending the various Caribbean Festivals held at the Park.

Devoted daughter of Eddie B. Calamese and his wife Sally of Bluffton, SC and the late Warnella (Johnson) Calamese.
Loving sister of Valerie Calamese of Salem, Tanya Vecchione of Holliston, Tina Robinson of Brooklyn, NY, and the late Keith Calamese.
Cherished aunt of Holly Grazette of Brockton and Byron Calamese of New York.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Edwinta's Life Celebration on Thursday, April 2, 2015 from 4-7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will follow at 7:00 PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: National Kidney Association, 30 E. 33rd Street, New York, New York 10016.
