Edward R. Verrochi, Sr., 87, passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter, Cynthia Michelson, on Thursday, June 1, 2017. Born at home on Moose Hill Road in East Walpole on July 11, 1929, he was the son of the late Thomas and Mary (Romanelli) Verrochi. He graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1947 and had been a lifelong resident of East Walpole. After the loss of his wife, Evelyn, in 2013, he moved to Hooksett, New Hampshire to live and be cared for by his daughter Cynthia, son-in-law Charles, and three grandchildren, Charles, Angela, and Christina.
Edward grew up and worked on the family farm on Moose Hill Road with his four brothers and then for the Hill Machine Company. Edward and his wife were part owners of TEPCO Machine Company. In 1976, he and his wife became part owners of Gilmore's Inc. of Walpole. Years later, they became sole owners of Gilmore's. There they worked side by side for many years with their three sons, Edward, Anthony, and Andrew.
Edward was active in his community as a dedicated RTM member. In his younger years, he enjoyed bowling and fishing. Prior to his retirement, he was a familiar face in Walpole. He was an avid gardener, and took great pride in his home and landscape. He loved spending time with his wife, Evelyn. They enjoyed dinners out and spending time together at their home working in their yard and garden.
Beloved husband to the late Evelyn M. (Trank) Verrochi for 64 loving years.
Loving father of Mary Ellen Peso of Franklin, Edward R. Verrochi, Jr. and his wife Maryann of Mansfield, Cynthia Ann Michelson and her husband Charles of Hooksett, NH, Anthony G. Verrochi and his wife Linda of Wrentham, and Andrew J. Verrochi and his wife Kim of Wrentham.
Cherished grandfather of 13 and great grandfather of 15.
Brother of Arthur Verrochi of Walpole, Paul Verrochi of East Walpole, the late Thomas Verrochi, Jr., and the late Albert Verrochi.
Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Edward's visitation on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 2-5 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Funeral Home Service will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will follow in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
