Edward M. Smith age 79 years died in the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood, Massachusetts on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on November 11, 1928 to his parents Julian and Enid (Frazier) Smith, he graduated from Norwood High School with the class of 1946. After high school Mr. Smith entered the Merchant Marines serving during World War II. He had been living in East Walpole, Massachusetts since 1955 moving from Hyde Park, Massachusetts.

He was a truck driver for the Teamsters Union for 40 years.

Mr. Smith was a member of the Elks and a 50 year member of Azure Lodge in Walpole, Massachusetts

He was very active in both the Walpole Senior Group and the Norwood Senior Group.

Beloved husband of the late Yvette M. Smith. Loving father of Bernadette M. and her husband Barry Eddy of Largo, FL. Cherished grandfather of 5, great grandfather of 8, and great great granfather of 1. Long time companion of Etta Willis of Dedham.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the funeral service that will be held in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at 10 AM. Visiting hours are Friday, May 30, 2008 from 4-8PM. Interment Highland Cemetery Norwood, Massachusetts. Memorial donations may be made to: American Cancer Society 1115 West Chestnut Street Suite 31 Brockton, Massachusetts 02401.
