Edward G. Jenkins, age 78, passed away in the Norwood Hospital on Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Born in Boston, Massachusetts on September 27, 1938, he was the son of the late Edward R. and Josephine (Reynolds) Jenkins. He was raised in Hyde Park and as a member of Most Precious Blood Church, took part in the Cavaliers Drum Corps before joining the Crusaders Drum Corps as he got older. He graduated from Hyde Park High School with the Class of 1957 and entered the Carpenter's Union, Local 67 in Boston.
Ed married his wife, Janice Anne Hartford, on September 3, 1960 and together they made their home in Hyde Park before settling in Foxborough in 1966. He was an active member of his new community, joining the Knights of Columbus at Saint Mary's Parish, where he served as Grand Knight for 2 years, and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) Lodge 2633 in Mansfield. Ed retired from the Union in 2000, after 30 years of dedicated service to his local.
Ed loved traveling with Janice, together they enjoyed many trips to Florida and Aruba. However, his favorite vacation spot was his home in Moultonborough, New Hampshire.
Beloved husband of Janice A. (Hartford) Jenkins.
Loving father of Thomas E. Jenkins and his wife Michele of Attleboro.
Cherished grandfather of Patrick, Nicholas, Joshua, and Amanda.
Devoted brother of the late Barbara A. Jenkins.
Brother in law of Penny Walsh of New York, Judy Cronin of West Roxbury, and the late Fred Hartford.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Ed's Life Celebration on Monday, July 10, 2017 from 4-8 PM and Tuesday, July 11, 2017 from 9-9:20 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough on Tuesday, July 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Ed's name may be made to Boston Children's Hospital Trust for the Heart Center, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602, Boston, MA 02215.
