Edward Alfred Harevich

October 6, 1925 — February 23, 2017

Edward Alfred Harevich, age 91, passed away in the Boston Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts on Thursday, February 23, 2017. Born in Dorchester, Massachusetts on October 6, 1925, he was the son of the late Romuald and Wanda (Stundzis) Harewicz. He was raised in South Boston and graduated from South Boston High School with the Class of 1943. After graduation, Ed enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country during World War II. He served in both the European Theater as well as the Asiatic Pacific Theater of Operations aboard the USS Dextrous and the USS Chief, sweeping for underwater mines. Ed was honorably discharged in 1946 as a Yeoman Third Class.

Upon his return to South Boston, Ed began working as a machinist at General Electric and after 10 years, he took his machining skills to Polaroid. He met his soon to be wife Teresa in 1965 and they were married on November 23, 1968. After their wedding, the young couple made their home together on Chandler Avenue in Walpole, where Ed loved tending to his wonderful vegetable garden. Ed retired in 1988, after 30 years of dedicated service to Polaroid.

Ed was a life member of the Walpole Sportsman Association and loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed golfing with the Polaroid Men's League on Thursday nights. While he enjoyed having fun, Ed's family came first, he always made sure they were well cared for throughout his life.
