MRS. EDITH A. (GOODWIN) O'NEIL AGE 96 DIED ON FRIDAY EVEING, JUNE 2ND, 2006, IN THE OUR LADY'S HAVEN IN FAIRHAVEN, MASSACHUSETTS. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on October 6th, 1909 , daughter of the late Arthur & Catherine (Abley) Goodwin, one of 18 children the couple had. Raised in Walpole, she was a 1926 graduate of Walpole High School.
A life long resident of the town of Walpole.
A homemaker for all of her adult life, raising her family and once they were grown, she became a volunteer. A volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Walpole Historical Society, the Walpole Council on Aging, and until she was 90 years old, she volunteered at the Ellis Nursing Home in Norwood. A member of the Legion of Mary, a was an Election Offical for Town of Walpole , having served as a Precinct Warden.
Beloved wife of the late Christopher F.O'Neil Loving mother of Mary R. & her husband Robert Lorenzo of Fairhaven, Edith A.& her husband Michael Kelly , Joseph M. & his wife Lauren O'Neil all of Needham, Christopher V. & his wife Sandra O'Neil of Wrentham, and Kathleen A. & her husband William Hubert of Needham Cherished Grandmother of 17 great grandmother of 25 Sister of Thomas Goodwin of Portland, Or and pre deceased by 16 brothers and sisters. Also survived by many nieces and nephews
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in the Blessed Sacrament Church Route 27 @ Diamond Street Walpole on Tuesday, June 6th, 2006 @ 10AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visting hours are Monday Afternoon, June 5th, 2006 from 5PM to 8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole.
