Eamon Joseph McCarthy

Eamon Joseph McCarthy, 27, of Roslindale, Massachusetts, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 19, 2025. Born in Boston on June 6, 1997, he was the son of Stephen D. and Margaret M. (Harney) McCarthy. Raised in Walpole, Eamon attended Boyden Elementary, Bird Middle, and Walpole High School. A dedicated athlete, he played soccer through early high school before focusing on track and cross country. He was a middle-distance runner and a key member of the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams, eventually captaining both teams his senior year.

After his graduation from Walpole High School with the class of 2016, Eamon continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston, where he majored in mechanical engineering and minored in history. Eamon took advantage of all that Northeastern had to offer, including their study abroad program. He traveled half a world away, spending his first semester learning in Australia. Australia was a life changing experience for Eamon, truly discovering who he was and developing valuable relationships with a close group of friends. Returning home, Eamon continued his love of sports as an intramural referee introduced by his brother Connor. In true Husky spirit, Eamon was a proud member of the “Doghouse”.

While at Northeastern, Eamon completed a co-op at Shark Ninja, applying his engineering skills and leaving a strong impression. After earning his bachelor’s degree in 2021, he joined the company as an engineer. More recently, he transitioned to a Project Management Coordinator role at ForHealth Consulting at UMass Chan Medical School while pursuing multiple Project Management certificates online.

Eamon was always on the move, running 5Ks with his sister Erin and brother-in-law Ryan, skiing in Maine and New Hampshire, and spending summers hiking and camping. As soon as the weather warmed, he packed his gear and headed for the mountains, often planning overnight trips with friends. His passion for the outdoors led him to take survival courses and sparked an interest in mountaineering. He especially cherished time with family and friends, whether white-water rafting on the Kennebec River followed by a themed barbeque celebration or enjoying the annual Labor Day lobster dinner at Fisherman’s Memorial in Rhode Island.

Eamon deeply valued family, never missing a gathering and eagerly anticipating becoming an uncle. He shared a special bond with his cousins, cherishing time spent together, whether it was holiday celebrations, Irish dance, summer adventures, or simply catching up. He understood the importance of friendship and community, always making time to bring people together. A lifelong animal lover, he grew up with dogs, volunteered at a cat shelter, and often pet-sat for family. His kindness and generosity touched everyone around him.

Eamon had many passions and was always eager to explore new interests. A dedicated gamer, he especially loved Dungeons & Dragons, introducing friends to the game and often serving as Dungeon Master, crafting detailed campaigns that could take weeks to build. He embraced new experiences, from joining a ten-pin bowling league to seeking out the most adventurous or unexpected dish on any menu. A music lover, he collected records spanning Irish music, classic rock, big band, and EDM—always searching for something new to play. His love for rock came from his dad, who once took him, Connor, and friends to see AC/DC at Gillette Stadium, a memory he cherished.

Eamon was thoughtful, witty, humble, and kind, with the spirit of an old soul—drawn to classic music, deep conversations, and experiences that connected him to the past. He was also deeply charitable, always looking for ways to help others, whether through small acts of kindness or offering something to someone in need. He will be deeply missed.
