Douglas P. Michaud

February 21, 1947 — April 23, 2018

Douglas Michaud, age 71, passed away in his Walpole, Massachusetts home on Monday, April 23, 2018. Born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on February 21, 1947, he was the son of Armand and Mary (Bomba) Michaud. Doug graduated from Central Catholic High School with the Class of 1964, where he was a member of the Track and Field Team, Sodality, and was named the Class Valedictorian. After graduation, Doug spent a semester at Georgetown University before graduating from Holy Cross in 1968, where he organized Antioch Weekend Retreats, which became the foundation of his ministries. Following his graduation from Holy Cross, Doug traveled to Ann Arbor, Michigan to join the Catholic Charismatic Renewal and in 1971, he moved to Uniondale, New York, taking the position of youth minister at Saint Martha's Parish.

Doug married his beloved wife, Patricia M. Hand, on June 17, 1972 in Farmington, Michigan. The young couple returned to Uniondale, New York, where Doug continued his ministries. In 1974, he began working at Saint Edward the Confessor Church in Syosset, New York and in 1975 he returned to his education, taking classes at Saint John University. Doug earned his Master's Degree in 1978 and later that same year enrolled in a doctoral program at Fordham University. In 1981, Doug moved his young family to Blue Point, New York and took a position with Our Lady of Grace in West Babylon, New York.

Doug left the State of New York in 1985, moving his family to Walpole, Massachusetts, taking the youth minister and the director of religious education positions at Saint Joseph's Church in Needham. Beginning in 1988, Doug started organizing retreats for various parishes, including Saint Joseph's in Needham, Precious Blood in Dover, and Our Lady of Mt. Carmel in Seekonk.

Doug took a new path starting in 1992, taking a full-time position with Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua, New Hampshire, teaching Theology. In 1998, he moved closer to home, taking a position with Bishop Feehan High School in Attleboro, where he developed his own curriculum, focusing on Biblical Themes in Contemporary Films. He will always be remembered for his Fun Friday Classes, giving away candy, donuts, and bagels to his students. He retired from Bishop Feehan in 2011, however continued teaching his ministries through various speeches, praying every morning that he could complete his mission of making Jesus known to all. In addition to his ministries, Doug also worked as a limousine driver for Cascio Limo Service in Southboro.

While Doug moved around during his younger years, he remained a true Boston Sports fan, always keeping up with the Patriots and Red Sox. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether in the White Mountains, on Seabrook Beach, or the beaches of Cape Cod. Back at home, Doug loved spending time in his own yard, cultivating his flower gardens, taking in the local wildlife, or caring for his parrot, Skittles. As a dedicated family man, he adored spending time with those he loved, often using his great sense of humor or a great quote to show his care.
