Dorothy B. O'Neill

Dorothy B. (Barnard) "Dottie" O'Neill, age 94, passed away in Wingate of Needham on Tuesday, February 23, 2016. Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada on November 23, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Alfred J. and Mary Eleanor (Gay) Barnard. After coming to the United States at the age of 7, she was raised in Roslindale, Massachusetts and graduated from Roslindale High School with the Class of 1939. After high school Dottie went on to attend Emerson College in Boston.

She spent most of her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family. She was an avid reader and loved collecting books, as well as corresponding with her many pen pals throughout the United States. She had been a resident of Foxboro for 43 years, Massachusetts moving from Norwood, where she had lived for 15 years.

Loving mother of Eleanor G. Holderried and her husband Leo of Medfield, and the late James A. O'Neill.
Cherished grandmother of 7, great grandmother of 10 and great great grandmother of 1.
Sister of the late Alfred J. Barnard and Mary Lou LeShane.
Also survived by a nieces and 3 nephews and many great nieces and nephews. Former wife of the late George M. O'Neill.
