Dorothy A Mattson, 92, passed away in the Ellis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Norwood, Massachusetts on Tuesday, June 02, 2020. Born in Worcester, Massachusetts on June 20, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William and Margaret (Tinsley) Walsh. She was raised in Norwood, Massachusetts and graduated from Norwood High School with the Class of 1945. Following her graduation, Dorothy took a position with Bird and Son in East Walpole, working as an office clerk.
Dorothy married her beloved husband, Fred Carl Mattson, on June 18, 1949 in Saint Catherine's Church in Norwood. The young couple made their home together in Walpole, where Dorothy took on the role of a homemaker, raising and caring for her three children, Patricia, John, and Susan. Dorothy always put her family first throughout her life. She looked forward to hosting Sunday family dinners, where she could showcase her delicious apple pie. In 1987, Dorothy and Fred left their Walpole home, settling in the town of Denmark, Maine, where they enjoyed many years together.

Loving mother of Patricia A. Baltadonis and her husband, Charles, of Norwood, John W. "Jack" Mattson and his wife, Mary, of Walpole, and Susan M. Khiel and her husband, John, of Denmark, Maine.
Cherished nana of Kristin Baltadonis of Morristown, New Jersey, Stephanie Baltadonis of Somersworth, New Hampshire, Derek Mattson of Medford, and Kimberly Clegg and her husband, Tyler, of Franklin; and great nana of Ava Clegg and Aubrie Clegg.
Sister of Margaret Daniels of Norwood, Jane T. Gulla of Walpole, and the late William J. Walsh, Jr.
Also survived by several nieces and nephews.
As a result of the ongoing and ever-developing health crisis in the world and with genuine concern for the people whom they love, Dorothy's family has decided that her funeral services will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held when we return to calmer and healthier times so that we may gather without boundaries to honor, remember, and celebrate her life. Interment will take place in Knollwood Memorial Park in Canton. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Alzheimer's Association 309 Waverley Oaks Road Waltham, MA 02452.
