Doris R. (Boudreau) Devereau, age 84, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 2, 2021, surrounded by her loving family, after spending 18 months at The Lighthouse at Lincoln where she received loving and compassionate care.
Doris was the oldest child of the late Aquila and Beatrice (Chartier) Boudreau. She was born and raised in Gardner, MA and graduated from Gardner High School with the Class of 1954. Doris was involved in many HS clubs and enjoyed spending time with her dear friends, Ann Ouellette and Carlene Beauregard.
Doris spent her working career employed by State Street Research and Management in Boston, as a payroll specialist working there for 35 years, until retiring in 1997.
Doris married her beloved husband, the love of her life, and best friend, Russell A. Devereau, on July 15, 1973 in her hometown of Gardner. The couple made their home together in Medfield, MA before settling in Walpole in 1978. They were married for 27 years, until Russ passed.
Doris and Russ were both avid golfers, and longtime members of the Walpole Country Club, where they spent countless hours on the course, along with many other golf courses around the world. One of the greatest achievements in Doris’ life was scoring 3 holes-in-one.
Doris loved to travel with her husband, her sister Claudette, and friends. She spent many winters in Hilton Head, SC, escaping the snow, playing golf, walking the beach looking for dolphins, and dining with her friends. She also enjoyed making puzzles, going to movies, playing Yahtzee, and watching Wheel of Fortune.
Doris’ most memorable trips were to Lake Powell, AZ where she and Russ enjoyed time together on a House Boat trip for a week, and to Pebble Beach Golf Course in CA, and several visits to see The Matterhorn in Switzerland.
Doris was a woman of faith and always said her daily rosary. She and Russ were active members of Blessed Sacrament Church in Walpole.
Doris, beloved wife of the late Russell A. Devereau, is survived by her sister, Claudette H. Bourque of N. Smithfield, RI and brother, Richard A. Boudreau and his wife Christine of Sarasota, FL.
Doris is also survived by her niece, Monique Bourque, and nephews Ernest Bourque Jr. and his wife Livia, Marcel Bourque and his wife Jackie, Sean Boudreau and his wife Sue, along with several other nieces, nephews and dear friends, especially Tobyanne Suyemoto.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Doris' Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church, 10 Diamond Street, Walpole, MA on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 10:30 AM.
