Doris June (Fettig) Bausch, age 97, passed away peacefully in the Harrington House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Walpole on January 26, 2016. Born in the Roslindale section of Boston on March 11, 1918, she was one of six daughters born to Jacob and Elizabeth (Brust) Fettig. At the age of three, Doris moved, with her family, to Durkheim, Germany and later returned to the United States when she was nine and settled in Roslindale. She attended Girls High School in Dorchester with the Class of 1936.
Doris met the love of her life, George A. Bausch, while helping her father in her backyard. Doris' family's trees had lost their fruit in a terrible storm, and since both of their fathers worked together at the Haffenreffer Brewery in Boston, George's father sent him over to help clean up. They were married on August 31, 1941, in the Holy Name Church in West Roxbury. They made their home together in Roslindale, raising five children.
After the close of World War II, Doris and her family spent every summer on Cape Cod in the Town of Brewster, including full summers spent in area one of Nickerson State Park. In 1959, Doris and George built a summer home in Pilgrim Pines and they moved out of the city in 1966, settling in Sharon.
Doris was dedicated to her family, her life was designed around them. She spent countless hours at the beach with her family and loved cooking and preparing for family events.
