Donald F. Giggey

Donald F. Giggey age 88 years died in the Norwood Hospital in Norwood, Massachusetts on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Born in St, John, New Brunswick, Canada on May 2, 1922, he was the son of the late Frank L. and Hazel W. (Brittain) Giggey. He honorably served in the Canadian Navy during World War II in both the European Theatre of Operations as well as the Pacific Theatre of Operations. Mr. Giggey has been a resident of Plainville, Massachusetts for the past 40 years moving there from Sharon, where he spent 18 years.

He was the facilities manager for the Norfolk Agricultural High School in Walpole, Massachusetts for 28 years.

Mr. Giggey was an avid cribbage player and enjoyed fishing and playing horseshoes. However most of all, he was a family man, and loved spending time with his family.

Beloved husband of Doris E. (McCumber) Giggey. Loving father of Bonnie McDonald and her husband James F. of Wrentham and Bruce Giggey and his wife Susan E. of Buzzards Bay. Cherished grandfather of Jordan M. Giggey, Eric J. McDonald, and Kristopher L. McDonald. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours on Friday, March 18th, 2011 from 6pm to 8pm in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Funeral and interment will be private. Memorial donations may be made to: American Lung Association 460 Totten Pond Road #400, Waltham, Massachusetts 02451. The family wished to acknowledge Dr. Perrotto, Dr. Le and the Unit 32 nursing staff at Norwood Hospital for their wonderful and supportive care.
