Donald Gerald Friend

Donald Gerald Friend, age 88 of Sharon, Massachusetts, passed at home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, June 2, 2014, after a long illness. Born on November 28, 1925 to Gerald and Jeanette (Goldsmith) Friend, he was raised in Brookline, Massachusetts. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Donald leaves behind his loving wife of almost 60 years, Rita (Kelly) Friend and adoring children Mary Kincaid, Aine (Anne) Friend, and twins John and Kevin Friend and is now reunited with sons Thomas and Brian. He will be dearly remembered as a wonderful father-in-law by Linda and Cheri Friend and Mark Kincaid. Nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren will always find inspiration remembering their loving, smiling grand-pa.

Donald loved flying airplanes, Irish Music, algebra, providing good advice to his children and grandchildren, and most of all family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Donald's Life Celebration on Thursday, June 5, 2014 from 4-8 PM and Friday, June 6, 2014 from 10-10:30 AM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 59 Cottage Street, Sharon on Friday, June 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Pine Street Inn, Attn: Abby Spooner, 444 Harrison Avenue, Boston, MA 02118.
