David Ignatius Walsh

August 20, 1957 — October 29, 2010

David Ignatius Walsh, Jr., 53, of Walpole, formerly of Westwood died on October 29th after a valiant battle with cancer. He was the husband of Ann (Neves) Walsh for the past 24 years.

Born in Boston, August 20, 1957, the son of the David Ignatius Walsh, Sr. and Rita (Brennan) Walsh, Mr. Walsh was raised in Westwood, graduated Westwood High School, Northeastern University, and received his Master's Degree from Suffolk University.

Mr. Walsh spent 26 years working for the Boston Globe as an advertising sales executive. He left the Globe and joined Yahoo and most recently worked for Lojack, Inc.

Davis was a member of the Norfolk Golf Club and an avid golfer. David held many friends close to his heart. It was the love and concern of all his close friends that gave him the strength to face his disease.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son David Ignatius Walsh, III, 21, and Vanessa Walsh, 17, of Walpole. He is also survived by his sisters Jane Walsh and her husband Craig Petersen of S. Egremont, MA, their children Val and Gavin Petersen and Judith Brighton of California and her husband Charles Howell and their children Owen and Angelica Freeman. He is also survived by his sister-in-law June Kingston and her husband Bill Kingston.

Funeral from the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Wednesday at 9AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Blessed Sacrament Church Walpole at 10AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited. Visiting hours are Tuesday from 4-8PM. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, a scholarship fund has been established at the Sharon Credit Union 2 Union Street East Walpole, MA 02032 in the names of David and Vanessa Walsh.
