David L. Harris

David L. Harris age 81 years died in his East Walpole, Massachusetts home on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Born in Randolph, Massachusetts on September 21, 1930; he was the son of the late Charles and Sophie (Jandreaw) Harris. He graduated from Dorchester High School with the class of 1948, and later graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology. Mr. Harris proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He served on board the USS Phillipine Sea and the USS Botetaourt. He has been a resident of East Walpole, Massachusetts since 1983, moving there from Norwood.

Mr. Harris worked as welder for 42 years. He worked for the Masoneilan Corporation begining his career in Dorchester Lower Mills and later moved to Norwood.

He enjoyed playing billards and meeting his friends for coffee at the Norwood Friendly's. Most of all he loved spending time with his family. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor.

Beloved husband of Marjorie A. (Doherty) Harris. Loving father of David P. Harris of Franklin, Linda Little and her husband Jim of Venice, Fl and the late Joseph C. Harris. Father in law of Jeanne Kelly of Foxboro. Cherished grandfather of Angela, Matthew, Danielle, Joseph, Nicole, Sarah, Nicholas, Hannah, and Garret. Great grandfather of Ryan and Maddelyn. Brother of Mildred Burke of Wollaston, Richard Harris of Barre, VT, the late Arthur Harris, Sally Sweeney, Kenneth Harris, Grace Harris, Charles "Bobby" Harris, Donald Harris and Harold Harris. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to gather in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM. Interment will be private.
