David Anthony Denny

June 28, 1954 — June 2, 2022

David Anthony Denny, age 67, passed away on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at his home in Attleboro, Massachusetts.  Born in Pensacola, Florida on June 28, 1954, he was the son of the late Maurice Martin and Angelina C. (Pestana) Denny.  David spent his early years in Spain, before returning to Walpole, Massachusetts, where he graduated from Walpole High School with the Class of 1972.  He continued his education at Northeastern University in Boston, prior to enlisting in the United States Navy in 1974.  While on active duty in the Navy, David was stationed on Bremerton, Washington, serving as a submariner.  Following his honorable discharge in 1976, David traveled throughout the United States, enjoying time on the road.

Upon his return to Massachusetts, David worked alongside his family at the Denny House in Norwood, maintaining the facility.  He married Debbi Allen, with whom, he welcomed two children, Ariel and Elizabeth.  After the sale of the Denny House, David's career brought him to various apartment buildings throughout Massachusetts, applying his handyman's skill to whatever project needed his attention.  Eventually, he went on to become a mechanic, using the knowledge that he collected throughout his life to work on small engines, motorcycles, and off-road bicycles, retiring in 2006.

Throughout his life, David loved to "tinker" with everything, especially with motorcycles and firearms.  He also loved being outdoors, looking forward to spending time on Cape Cod, whether swimming or fishing.  Most of all, David was dedicated to his family and close friends, including his favorite cat, Kitty.  He had a passion for cooking, inviting his family and friends over for dinner, ensuring no one left his home hungry.  David was delighted at the birth of his grandson, Sam Shockroo, and spent countless hours with him, teaching him about tools and bikes.

Loving father of Elizabeth Denny and Ariel Denny both of Attleboro.

Cherished grandfather of Sam Shockroo.

Brother of Kathleen M. Collins of Walpole, Mary Jo Thompson of Florida, Patricia A. Sterritt of Norwood, and Jean F. Pritchard of Walpole.

Former husband of the late Deborah Lyn Allen Denny.
