David R. Balabanis

David R. Balabanis age 76 years died in the Tufts Medical Center in Boston, Massachusetts on Friday, August 26, 2011. Born in Boston on October 24, 1934; he was the son of the late Peter and Agnes (Young) Balabanis. He was raised in Westwood, Massachusetts. He has been a resident of Walpole, Massachusetts for the past 38 years moving there from Norwood, Massachusetts.

Mr. Balabanis was the owner of Balabanis Auto Repair in Walpole for 43 years. He devoted much of his time to operating his business with his two sons. He also spent much of his time maintaining his property in Maine and his home here in Walpole. He especially loved working in his yard and his vegetable garden.

He was an avid recycler of precious metals, and enjoyed spending time at his house in Denmark, Maine. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing and camping in Maine. Most of all he loved spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Beloved husband of Elaine F. "Bunny" (Steele) Balabanis. Loving father of Donna Getchell and her husband David of Fl, David R. Balabanis, Jr. and his wife Lorraine of Walpole, Edward A. Balabanis and his wife Cheryl of Foxboro, and Christine M. Graham of Walpole. Cherished grandfather of 8. Brother of Raymond Balabanis and wife Carole of Westwood, Mary Webber of Norwood, Susan Mason of Dedham, Theodore Balabanis and his wife Pamela of Medway, Nancy Shea and her husband John of Norwood, the late Peter Balabanis, Edward Balabanis, Penelope Weber, William "Ronnie" Balabanis and William Cross. Brother in law of Joan Sullivan and her husband the late John of Walpole and John "Jake" Sarnie and the late Marilyn of Walpole. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at Saint Timothy's Church 650 Nichols Street Norwood on Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 10:00 AM. Visiting hours are Wednesday, August 31, 2011 from 4-8PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home 48 Common Street Walpole. Interment will be in Saint Francis Cemetery in Walpole.
