David Murray Allen passed away peacefully on Monday, December 28, 2020 at Milford Regional Medical Center at age 69. Dave was born in Arlington, Massachusetts on February 17, 1951. He was the son of the late Carl Roger Allen and Margaret “Peggy” (Murray) Allen. He attended Arlington High School graduating in 1969. He then went on to Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston where he earned two associate degrees in Applied Science in Building Construction and Architectural Engineering Technology. He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology in 1974. He worked as an estimator, senior estimator, and consultant starting in 2008 for construction companies in the Boston metro area for over 35 years retiring in 2015.
Dave met Cheryl Hanna, his beloved wife of 42 years, on a bicycling tour on Nantucket Island on September 18, 1976. They married on August 19, 1978, and settled in Norfolk, MA in 1979. They welcomed two daughters, Kate and Jessica.
Dave loved road biking, working on his cars, photography, history, and travel. During the summer, he loved to spend time with his family on Crane Beach in Ipswich, MA, and in York Beach, ME.
Dave enjoyed traveling with his family, taking trips to Mount Rushmore, Washington D.C., Denver, New Hampshire, Vermont, Oregon, and Florida, even going as far as St. Thomas, Italy to visit Cheryl’s sister and England to visit Jess.
Dave was preceded in death by his father Carl, mother Margaret, and sister Shirley. He is survived by his loving wife Cher, his daughters Jess Allen and Kate (Allen) Anderson, son-in-law Lincoln Anderson, two grandchildren, brother Gary Allen, and extended family.
Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend Dave’s Life Celebration on Monday, January 4, 2021 from 4 to 7 PM in the James H. Delaney & Son Funeral Home, 48 Common Street, Walpole.
At the request of Dave’s family his funeral services and interment will be private.
