Cynthia Elizabeth Rhodes

Cynthia Elizabeth (Hall) Rhodes, age 73, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at her home in Sharon, Massachusetts, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Norwood, Massachusetts on September 19, 1950, she was the daughter of William Irving and Frances Marie (Golding) Hall. As a lifelong resident of Sharon, “Cindy” attended the local public schools and graduated from Sharon High School in 1968.

After graduation, Cindy found employment as a secretary in the Engineering Department of Factory Mutual in Norwood. Cindy performed important clerical and administrative support that kept the engineering department running smoothly during her two decades with the company. In 1986, Cindy brought her secretarial skills to the Town of Sharon's Department of Public Works, serving as the Building and Electrical Secretary. Cindy loved her job at the Sharon DPW as it allowed her to engage with and improve her community. In 2021, Cindy retired from her position with the DPW after 35 years as a dedicated employee.

Cindy's greatest joy in her life was her family. Cindy was an enthusiastic mother and, later in life, grandmother. She was always present for the important events in her family's lives, attending countless football and lacrosse games, graduations, pinning ceremonies, and more. She loved to spend time with them, whether it was a casual dinner, a day down the Cape, or even just running errands together. There was no such thing as a mundane event, as Cindy even volunteered to drive her grandchildren to and from school so she could enjoy more time with them each day. Cindy jumped at every chance to socialize, be it chatting at family get-togethers and cookouts where she might offer to unburden you of the leftovers on your plate, or simply talking on the phone, she always wanted to be in the thick of it.

In her free time, Cindy could often be found in the kitchen, whisk and bowl in hand, singing along to a Neil Diamond tune while making a delicious dessert to share. She was famous for her chocolate chip cookies and seven-layer trifle and would happily bake you a coffee cake upon request. Cindy also looked forward to summer days at the beach, especially during family trips down Cape Cod to Falmouth and Nantucket, or up to Ogunquit, Maine. She loved to soak up the sun and build a beautiful tan, but never ventured into the water for fear of ruining her perfectly coiffured hair. With her iconic "puffy hair", carefully chosen outfits complete with shoulder pads, and bright pink nails, she was always meticulously put together. Her love of fashion translated to a passion for sewing, and she enjoyed making matching outfits for her daughter, Stacey, when she was a girl, with her staple McCall’s patterns.
